Protecting The Precious Pieces: Brunk Auctions Flute Fill Roof

Protecting The Precious Pieces: Brunk Auctions Flute Fill Roof

WNC Roofing completed a flute fill retrofit roof at Brunk Auctions, located at 117 Tunnel Road in
Asheville, North Carolina.

Work began with reviewing the site logistics, equipment staging, roof loading procedures, and work
hours, safety requirements, and production schedules.

The roofing system included new flute-fill EPS insulation (R-4.0), custom-cut to fit between the
existing roof ribs. The project included an upgraded insulation package consisting of 1.5”
Polyiso insulation (R-8.6), mechanically fastened with eight fasteners per board, exceeding manufacturer requirements.

Once the insulation package was completed, WNC Roofing installed a new white 60-mil TPO
roof membrane. The membrane was secured directly to the building’s structural metal purlins through the existing roof system, 12″ on center, in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
All membrane laps were fully welded to create a seamless, watertight roofing system.

Roof Edge and Perimeter Improvements

At the roof eaves, new PT wood blocking was installed to provide an insulation termination and
a secure nail base for the edge metal systems.

New white TPO-coated drip edge metal, fastened 12”
on center, was installed above the existing gutter system, and the roof membrane was fully welded to
it.

All vent pipes were extended as required to maintain code compliance and provide a minimum
height of 8 inches above the finished roof surface.

Roof-to-Wall Transitions

Roof-to-wall transitions received new flashing assemblies designed to create a watertight
connection between the roofing system and wall panels.

Existing fasteners at the base of the wall
panels were removed, and new TPO-clad metal flashing was installed behind the panels. Wall
panels were re-secured using new oversized gasketed fasteners.

Damaged wall panels and coping were also removed and replaced as needed.

Gutters and Drainage

The project included new heavy-duty 24-gauge commercial-grade 7-inch box gutters and new 24-gauge 4-inch × 7-inch downspouts with support brackets.

Project Completion

All rooftop penetrations received new TPO membrane flashing installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications. Upon completion, WNC Roofing performed a rigorous final
walkthrough with the building representative and completed all manufacturer-required
inspections.
