The Membrane and Precision Detailing
With the insulation foundation set, the primary shield is applied: a premium Carlisle white 60 Mil TPO roof membrane, fully adhered to manufacturer specifications. The brilliant white color highly reflects solar radiation, keeping cooling costs down during hot North Carolina summers.
The true test of a roofing contractor lies in the details; specifically around penetrations and walls where leaks are most likely to occur.
- Pipes and Vents: All vent pipes are extended to sit a code-compliant 8 inches above the finished roof deck and flashed with custom TPO membrane flashings.
- Parapet Walls: To ensure the membrane never pulls away over time, it is anchored at the base of the walls with plates and screws every 12 inches. The membrane is then fully adhered up and over the top of the walls, capped off with a commercial-grade 24-gauge metal Coping featuring a durable Kynar finish.
- Roof Eaves: A new white TPO-coated drip edge is installed above the existing gutters, and the roof membrane is fully heat-welded directly to it, creating a seamless, impenetrable bond.
The Final Handshake
A job isn’t done just because the tools are packed up. The project concludes with a final walk-through alongside both a Laurel Park Building Representative and the City Building Inspector to verify that every detail meets strict local building codes and manufacturer specifications. This ensures the investment is protected and built to last for decades to come.
